CEMENT

Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general usage. It is the most important ingredient that’s used in concrete. Portland cement was patented in 1824 by Joseph Aspdin, an English masonry worker. It was named Portland because of its similarity to Portland limestone. In recent years alternatives have been developed to help replace cement, products like PLC (Portland Limestone Cement), this is due to cement production being one of the largest producers of global green house gas emissions. Biondo Cement chooses not to use these alternatives in cement so that we don’t compromise our quality standards in cement mix.

CONCRETE SEALING

Biondo Cement only chooses the best sealer on the market to achieve a long lasting shine for your concrete work. The most important things that we look for in a concrete sealer is that it is breathable, as well as the percentage amount of solids in the sealer itself, which is what makes a sealer application last. Our sealer is a non-yellowing sealant. Everclear concrete sealer is made by Uclid, and it’s used by us on many different concrete sealant applications. Biondo Cement offers you the best priced concrete, best concrete mix, best workmanship and the best 1½ year warranty!

CONCRETE FLOORS

Many concrete floors such as basement floors, garage floors, factory floors, restaurant floors, are being treated with concrete stains to bring out the natural beauty of concrete floors.

There are many color choices to choose from and even antiquing effects to add to the lasting beauty of concrete floors. The process is easy and affordable.

COST OF CONCRETE

The cost of concrete in Macomb County and Oakland County Michigan is approximately about $120.00 per yard if you are a cement contractor, and slightly higher for a homeowner. This price is for a six bag mix concrete, which is 4,000 p.s.i. in strength. It is very important that you choose a good cement company that carries a quality cement powder for their mix. Concrete prices can vary from one city to another, so be sure that you have the right questions and make the best concrete choice for your concrete mix.

PRICE OF CONCRETE SEALER

The price of a good concrete sealer like Diamond Clear, Super diamond Clear or Everclear ranges from $110.00 to $150.00 per five gallons. These concrete sealers are produced by Euclid and work very well on stamped concrete and even on regular cement concrete driveways. Biondo Cement offers you the best priced concrete, best concrete mix, best workmanship and the best 1½ year warranty!

KEEP YOUR DRIVEWAY IN GOOD CONDITION

A concrete driveway is a durable substance that can offer years of use without many repairs. A driveway in concrete is the choice of many homeowners for their exterior home applications. Proper maintenance is the key to a long lasting concrete driveway. Sealing the surface is required when a new concrete driveway is installed. Concrete sealer will have to be reapplied regularly about every two years. Driveways are often subject to stain from gasoline and oil; if this happens, use a scrub brush with dish soap or kitty litter and scrub it in, and then rinse it all off with a garden hose. The freezing and thawing process in Michigan can cause cracking in your concrete, so be sure to remove all snow from your driveway as soon as possible. This will go far in protecting your concrete from the harmful effects of winter.

DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENT

When replacing an existing driveway we start by removing the old concrete and hauling it away. Next we install a crushed concrete base commonly referred to as 21AA. It is important to start with a good base to ensure your driveway will be supported with a solid footing. A compactor is used to tightly press and pack (“compacting”) the crushed concrete for extra support. Next, the forms are installed and checked for proper drainage – all water should be going away from your house. Steel rod reinforcements will be installed throughout the entire project and then your cement will be poured. We use a 6 bag mix concrete; this is the best concrete that can be used for outside work.

The fresh cement is hand troweled and light broom finished. When the cement as cured, we then cut control joints in with a diamond blade saw, which ensures proper movement during the winter months. We take pride in concrete work installation and make sure we use the best materials for the best results. We hope you consider Biondo Cement for your next concrete project and we thank you for your business.
